CARTHAGE MAN SENTENCED TO THIRTY YEARS FOR ARMED ROBBERY OF DOLLAR GENERAL

District Attorney Bubba Bramlett announced today that Nickolas Wilder, 40, was found guilty of one count of armed robbery and one count of conspiracy after a three-day jury trial in Madison County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to serve thirty years in Mississippi Department of Corrections.

On November 29, 2024, Madison County Sheriff Department deputies responded to the Dollar General located near Leake County on Highway 49 regarding an armed robbery. When they arrived, they discovered that a man had walked into the store armed with a gun demanding money. The store clerk was able to run into an office adjacent to the checkout counter and lock the door. Surveillance showed the man hopping behind the counter, but he was unable to enter the office area. Surveillance then showed the man running back out of the store and entering the passenger side of the vehicle.

Using various law enforcement tools, officers were able to locate the vehicle at Wilder’s home with him sitting inside of it. Marco Allen was located inside the home still wearing the clothes he was wearing at the time of the robbery. After speaking with Allen along with cell phone location data, it was determined that Wilder provided the firearm to Allen and drove him to and from the Dollar General. It was also determined the pair had staked out several Dollar Generals that morning before coming back to Madison County where Allen entered the store attempting to rob the clerk.

Allen pled guilty for his involvement in the crime. He received an eighteen year sentence. Wilder elected to proceed to trial and was convicted of both counts by a Madison County jury. He received a thirty-year sentence.

District Attorney Bubba Bramlett stated: “Criminals often believe they can escape punishment if they are only acting in a driver or planner capacity or providing tools for others to commit crimes for them,” stated District Attorney Bramlett. “Nothing could be further from the truth. If involved in the orchestration and commission of a crime, in any capacity, individuals can and will be criminally indicted, and ultimately spend a very, very long time in prison.”
