What is it?

Physical Abuse

A variety of physical abuse techniques include slapping, hitting, pushing, pinching, grabbing, biting, hair pulling, throwing, etc. This could also involve neglecting a partner when they need medical care or forcing them to take a drug or alcoholic substances without their consent.

Sexual Abuse

This is pressuring any sexual contact or behavior without consent. It may include marital rape, physical abuse of sexual parts of the body, forced sex after physical abuse, or treating one in an insulting manner sexually.

Psychological Abuse 

Causing fear by harassment. Physical threats toward oneself, a partner, children, family, and friends. They are abusing pets, destroying property, and separating someone from family, friends, work, and school.

Emotional Abuse 

Intimidation and humiliation are forms of abuse. This can include constant criticism, minimizing someone's abilities, name-calling, or damaging a person's relationship with their children.

Technological Abuse 

Behavior or act intended to cause pain, control, intimidation, stalking, harassment, impersonation, exploitation, extortion, or monitoring of another person using any form of technology. These forms include, but are not limited to: Computers, mobile devices, cameras, imaging programs, apps, location tracking devices, and communication technologies are just some examples of internet-enabled devices, online spaces, and platforms.

Economic Abuse

Preventing or controlling a person's capacity to obtain, use, or maintain the economic resources to which they are granted. Manipulation restricts a person's access to money, credit, assets, credit, or financial information.

Domestic violence can happen to anyone. No matter your sex, your race, age, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity. It can happen to partners who are the same or opposite sex. Whether they are partners who are dating, married, living together, or have children together.

Domestic violence affects the person being abused and the family, friends, children, co-workers, witnesses, or the community around them.
